Quick and Simple Vignetting In Adobe Photoshop CS4

These days, I noticed a trend in people pictures. Back in the days, having a lens giving you vignetting was a bad thing and people demand to have it fixed to replaced. These days, people purposely add them to their picture as a form of style to enhance the subject.

What is Vignetting? According to Wikipedia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignetting), is a reduction of an image brightness or saturation at the periphery compared to the image center. Which mean, the four corner of the image are darken in comparison to the center of the image.

To create this effect in Adobe Photoshop CS 4, it is very simple and can easily be done with a few steps. Lets start with a simple image you want to work with.

From there, go to your menu bar and select Filter ->  Distort -> Lens Correction

By adjusting the "Amount" towards darken and "Midpoint" towards lighten, you will be able to produce this effect. With the right combination, your result might look similar to this.

Notice the four corners are a bit darker, as the result the center of the image are brought out to light. This method is useful if you want to bring attention to a focal point in your image. A lot of wedding photographers are using this method now and with the right balance, it fit the pictures very well.
